Reserve Bank Grade 'B' Officers Exam.

This examination is held every year generally in the month of February by the Reserve Bank of India Services Board, Hongkong Bank Building, 6th Floor, Mahatma Gandhi Road, Hutatma Chowk, Post Box No. 10009, Mumbai - 400001. The advertisement for the examination is published in the Employment News generally in the month of September of the previous year. The last date for submission of applications is generally 1st week of October.

2. The Reserve Bank of India Services Selection Board holds the examination in two phases. First Phase-Paper I (Objective Type) of three hours duration is held in the month of February. Second Phase (Descriptive Type) is conducted generally in the month of May in respect of those candidates who are successful in Objective Type examination (Separately for each test) on the basis of standard prescribed by the Board. It consists of Paper n English and Paper In - Economic and Social Problems.

3. Educational Qualifications: (i) A First Class Bachelor's Degree from a recognised University with a minimum 60% marks or an equivalent grade.
Or
(ii) A Second Class Master's Degree from a recognised University with a minimum of 55% marks or an equivalent grade.
Or
(iii)A Doctorate Degree with 50% marks in Master's Degree or an equivalent grade.
Or
(iv) A Chartered/Cost Accountant with a Bachelors Degree.
Or
(v) A Post-Graduate Diploma in Management from IIM­ Ahmedabad, Bangalore or Kolkata, with a Bachelor's Degree.

6. Plan of the Examination: The subjects of the Written Examination (WE), time allowed and maximum marks will be as under:

N.B.: (i) Paper I (except the test of English Language) and Paper III will be set bilingually in Hindi and English. Candidates have the option to answer Paper III either in Hindi or in English.
(ii) Phase II will be conducted in respect of those candidates who are successful in objective paper.
(iii) A candidate has to qualify in each of the objective type test and descriptive papers separately.
(iv) The aggregate marks of the examination will comprise the marks of Paper II and III of WE. The candidates, who score sufficiently high in order of merit on the basis of these aggregate marks will be called for interview.
(v) Final selection will be on the basis of candidate's performance in WE. and interview taken together.

7. Syllabus
Paper-I: Objective Type Test
The aim of this test is to measure candidate's reasoning ability, quantitative aptitude and proficiency in English and General Awareness.

Paper-II: English
The aim of the paper is to test the candidate's ability to read and understand serious discursive prose and to express his ideas clearly and correctly in English.

Paper-III: Social and Economic Problems
(a) Economic Problems Facing India: Population, Poverty, Inflation, Unemployment, Agriculture and Rural Development, Industrial Development, Industrial Relations, Trade Union Movement and Urbanisation-Current efforts to solve the Problems.

(b) Social Problems Facing India: Structure of Indian Society, Institution of Caste, Joint family and Nuclear family, Problems of Minorities and Tribals, Education and Human Resources Development.

(c) International Problems: The current world economic problems, the relations between the developed and developing economies and International Finance and Trade. (For Paper III the candidates are expected to read standard books on Indian Economy/Social Problems normally prescribed for similar subjects by the Universities for graduate level examinations. They are also expected to read newspapers/articles published in Journals devoted to economic/social problems to keep themselves informed of the latest developments. This may be taken as general guideline only. Candidate's performance will be judged on the basis of their analytical approach to problems rather than mere statement of facts.)
